Salt Lake City, Utah - March 24, 2025

BioUtah announced the winners of its 2025 Pitch Competition, held on March 13, 2025 during the Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit. The event, presented by BioUtah and the University of Utah’s Technology Licensing Office, showcased innovative startups across various life sciences categories, including medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, digital health, and biotechnology.

2025 Pitch Competition Winners:

Sponsored by Nusano, the winners in each category are:

  • Medical Devices and Diagnostics (Group 1): Demeter (Park City, Utah)
  • Medical Devices and Diagnostics (Group 2): RefloDX (Kaysville, Utah)
  • Therapeutics and Pharmaceuticals: Sethera Therapeutics (Salt Lake City, Utah)
  • Digital Health and Biotechnology: Monere Corporation (Lehi, Utah)

Each winning company received a $4,000 cash prize, marketing services from Serfwerks, and a one-year membership with BioUtah. The awards were presented on stage by Kelvyn Cullimore, President and CEO of BioUtah; Bruce Hunter, Chief Innovation Officer at the University of Utah’s Technology Licensing Office; Matt Bresnahan, Partner at Wilson Sonsini; and Alden Brown, Alliance Management Lead at Nusano.

The shark-tank-style competition featured 12 Utah-based life sciences companies, narrowed down from an initial pool of 37 applicants. Participants were divided into four groups, each judged by a panel of three industry experts.

The Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit:

The Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit served as a key gathering for Utah’s life sciences and investment communities, offering a full day of insightful programming tailored to entrepreneurs and startups. The Pitch Competition provided a platform for healthcare innovators to present their cutting-edge products to industry leaders, investors, and venture capital firms. All applicants had the opportunity to exhibit either virtually or on-site at the event’s Innovation Hall.
