The Utah Department of Commerce has appointed Adam Watson as the new Director of the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (DCCC). Watson brings an extensive background in managing investigation teams and a commitment to public service. Watson previously served as the Chief Investigator for the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (DCP).
The Division of Corporations and Commercial Code is one of ten divisions and offices within the Utah Department of Commerce. The Division facilitates corporate and commercial code filings and provides information to the public. The Division is the central authority for registering statutory business entities, trademarks, and Uniform Commercial Code filings in Utah.
“Adam’s dedication to public service makes him the ideal leader for this division,” said Margaret Busse, Utah Department of Commerce Executive Director. “We are excited to see him bring his vision and expertise to this key role.”
DCCC is responsible for business filings in the state of Utah, as well as all Uniform Commercial Code and Central Filing System filings. DCCC also registers all state trademarks and maintains the Governmental Immunity Database, a tool that allows the public to retrieve the address and contact information of Governmental Entities in order to deliver a notice of claim.
“I look forward to working with DCCC’s talented team,” said Watson. “Together, we will continue to ensure a transparent, efficient, and trustworthy environment for Utah’s businesses and consumers.”
Watson began his career with DCP as an investigator in 2011, eventually rising to Chief Investigator, leading his team in conducting investigations into consumer complaints. Before coming to DCP, Watson had a career in the real estate and mortgage industries. Adam obtained his Bachelor of Science in political science and an International Relations Certificate from the University of Utah.
