Today Angel Studios announced the debut their first anime-adjacent series, Gabriel and the Guardians. The Provo, Utah-based studio made the announcement at GalaxyCon in Austin, TX. Gabriel and the Guardians is an epic fantasy anime-influenced series set in the enchanting world of Ara, where Celestial beings, mortals, and dark giants collide in a battle for destiny and light.
At GalaxyCon, an exclusive Gabriel and the Guardians premiere event included a world-premiere announcement of the series’ stellar lineup of beloved anime and animated voice actors who have signed on to the project: Johnny Yong Bosch (Trigun, Bleach, Persona 4, Power Rangers) as Gabriel, James Arnold Taylor (Ratchet & Clank, Final Fantasy X, Star Wars:The Clone Wars) as Malachros, and Matt Lanter (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ultimate Spider Man) as Nok.
“Anime is a growing market around the world, and the Angel Guild has expressed incredible excitement about this series,” said Jeffrey Harmon, Chief Content Officer at Angel Studios. “We are excited to step into this market, bringing what we believe to be the first equity crowdfunded anime-influenced series to life.”
“Just like Tolkien’s Middle Earth is influenced by Northern European mythos, our fantasy world of Ara is shaped by the lore and mythos found in ancient Hebrew writings and Mesopotamian cultures.” said Jason Moody, the creator behind the series.
Inspired by ancient Hebrew scriptures, Gabriel and the Guardians is an epic fantasy series that tells the journey of Gabriel, a Celestial being from an unseen realm. With unyielding optimism, Gabriel never backs down and inspires his friends through enchanting adventures of truth and self-discovery. The talent behind Gabriel and the Guardians include artists who worked on The Lion King, Mulan, Tarzan, Bleach, Dragonball, Trigun, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and The Wingfeather Saga.
Qayinara Animation Inc., the company that will create Gabriel and the Guardians, is currently testing the waters to see if there is interest in an offering of its securities.
