On August 30, TechBuzz News announced Angel Studios' launch of a new Regulation A+ offering. This offering is the means through which everyday investors are empowered to greenlight the development and distribution of movies and TV shows.
As of today, this new Reg A+ Angel Studio's fundraising effort reached its target of $20 million in eleven days. As of this writing, over 21,000 people have joined the Reg A+ offering. The minimum investment was $151.20.
Angel is unique to the industry as the only studio that operates solely on the decisions of the audience. Only after the Angel Guild supports a project at a certain threshold can the studio negotiate to bring their stories to big and small screens. From April 2022 to April 2023, filmmakers submitted over 900 projects to the Angel Guild but only 13 made it through the process.
Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios, said, "Audiences are frustrated by what the Hollywood gatekeepers choose to greenlight for theaters and streaming. They feel most stories do not represent them. Now over 20,500 people have decided to take matters into their own hands by investing in Angel Studios. Their investments are helping us build the Angel Guild, a community of over 379k audience members from more than 150 countries who vote on which stories Angel should release next. It's working. Based on the 95% average audience score for Angel films on Rotten Tomatoes, the Guild is far better at predicting what audiences will enjoy than traditional Hollywood gatekeepers."
Angel Studios (Provo, Utah) is a values-based distribution company for stories that amplify light to mainstream audiences. Through the Angel Guild, crowd investors, such as the nearly 21,000 people that contributed to the $20 million goal, can now join over 379,000 Angel Guild members that collectively decide which film and television projects the studio will market and distribute.
Today Angel Studios also announced that its film Something to Stand for is now streaming the Angel app and on Angel.com. The film was overwhelmingly approved by the 379K Angel Guild members.
“As the Angel Guild grows, so does our opportunity to partner with talented filmmakers and projects that align with our audience,” said Jordan Harmon, President of Angel Studios.
“Mike Rowe’s compelling style of storytelling resonates well with our audience and it’s an honor to share his passion for celebrating the country we love.”
Something to Stand For reveals untold stories of extraordinary Americans you thought you knew. With its captivating narrative, told in classic Mike Rowe style, the film shines a light on individuals who have shaped history in remarkable and surprising ways.
