What happens when a 9-year-old runs a tech company? At Gabb Wireless’ second annual “Kid CEO for the Day” program, which took place earlier this month, magic happens. Nova Evenson, a bright and bubbly kid from Naples, Florida, stepped into the CEO role at Gabb’s headquarters in Lehi, Utah.
Spoiler alert: She nailed it.
The day started with Nova doing what all good CEOs do—leading a company wide meeting. Nova sat at the head of the table while Gabb’s department leaders presented updates for her approval. But she didn’t just nod along. Nova shared her ideas, including a campaign encouraging people to save and share their most treasured text messages. The idea? Inspired by a sentimental text her grandfather sent before he passed away. Talk about bringing a personal touch to tech innovation.
Next up, Nova suggested something that had everyone stretching their legs: “walking meetings.” Who needs another boring conference room chat when you can boost your step count and brainstorm at the same time? As a dedicated Gabb Watch user who loves tracking her steps, Nova knew this was a win-win. The Gabb team enthusiastically hopped on board—literally.
Of course, being CEO isn’t all fun and games (well, maybe a little). Nova also led a service project supporting the Utah Parent Center, where she helped fulfill holiday gift requests and provide Gabb tech to kids with disabilities. It was a meaningful way to give back and highlight the company’s mission to foster safe, caring connections.
Nova’s journey to the CEO chair began with her family’s search for safe technology. After moving to Florida, Nova faced challenges staying connected with her grandparents and dealing with bullying at school. Enter the Gabb Watch. This handy device not only helped her keep in touch with loved ones but also gave her parents peace of mind. One of her most cherished memories is a text from her grandfather telling her how much she was loved. It’s a message she still treasures today.
Gabb CEO Randle took a moment during the day to share some heartfelt words with Nova. He told her how proud he was of her bravery and reminded her that Gabb is all about creating safe spaces for kids and families. He assured her that at Gabb, there’s a zero-tolerance policy for bullies. Nova was officially running a bully-free zone.
To cap off the day, Gabb unveiled a playlist on Gabb Music+ called “Boss Beats.” Packed with empowering tunes, it was the perfect soundtrack for Nova’s big day. Because every CEO needs a walk-on song, right?
Gabb's “CEO for the Day” program exemplifies the company's dedication to involving kids in shaping the technology used by kids. By giving young Nova a platform to share her ideas and lead meaningful projects, Gabb continues to demonstrate how technology can empower young minds and foster stronger connections. Nova’s contributions and engagement with Gabb, even for one day at the company's helm, serve as a reminder of the positive impact that safe, thoughtful innovation can have on families and communities alike.
