Kickstart and Mayer Brown Invite Utah Startups to Participate in Ping Pong Tournament

Kickstart and Mayer Brown and teaming up to invite all Utah startups to play Ping Pong on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Grove Station in Pleasant Grove (273 S 2000 W, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062).

​Whether you’re "in it to win it" or just want to watch the breathless action unfold, all startup teams in Utah are invited to attend, especially those who want to move on from a challenging Q3 or are experiencing a sugar coma from the previous evening.

The inagural event, which is expected to be repeated next Spring, will include:

• ​Startup Showdown: Bragging rights, generous prizes (thick terrycloth bathrobes, headbands, high end coolers, Traeger grills) await the multiple winners. The ultimate ping pong champion, aka "The Lord of the Ping", will be immortalized by having his or her name engraved on a very special prize.

• ​Food Truck Frenzy: Refuel between matches with a mouth-watering lineup of local food trucks. Tasty eats, good vibes, and an all-around epic time.
• Full-Service Soda Shop: Indulge in custom mixes and fountain drinks from our full-service soda shop. Perfect for sipping between sets or celebrating a well-earned win! Generously sponsored by J.P. Morgan.
• ​Laid-back Fun: Network, play, and chill with fellow founders, investors, and startup enthusiasts in a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere. Individuals, despite their accomplishments, cannot not take themselves too seriously while playing ping pong.

​This tournament will feature a group stage where players face off against others in their group, followed by an elimination phase for the group winners to battle it out for ultimate glory.

It may be the most talked-about event of the season. Practice your serves, rally your fans, and dig out that nearly worn-out paddle with the questionable, potentially illegal beveled edges that you used in middle school to win your 8th grade Table Tennis Championship.

However, don't delay, due to limited availability, not all applicants will receive a player spot. Player registrations are capped at 48, after which eager players will be put on a waitlist. All interested parties are recommended to register early to claim a spot in the 48 player lineup.

Kickstart and Mayer Brown intend to make the Ping Pong Tournament an annual event for Utah's startup ecosystem. Ping Pong can bring people together during a really stressful quarter and helps them make connections, and have fun.
