Element Ventures, headquarted in Provo Utah, has announced their rebranding from their previous name, Peak Ventures. Even though their name has changed, their location and main focus has not. They remain headquartered in Provo and are active in the Utah startup sector, as they have been since 2008, the year they founded their prolific investment firm.
Element Ventures Co-founder and Managing Partner Jeff Danley sat down with TechBuzz recently explained the reasoning behind the name:
“We liked the word ‘Element’ because it alludes to the periodic table of elements. You have all these unique elements which have their own attributes, but you can also combine them to make something entirely new, and we thought that was an appropriate metaphor for us.”
The main focus of Element remains on pre-seed and seed investments, making principal investors Jeff Danley, Jamie Dunn, and Jeff Burningham active as early investors in Utah startups.
Danley continued:
“We’re very active, making sometimes two investments a month. We mostly do pre-seed and seed investments, but not exclusively.”
Danley also reviewed some of Element’s past investments:
“We have been fortunate to invest in a lot of the pre-eminent companies of the last 15 years in Utah. For example, we were early investors in MX, Owlet, Podium, Divvy, Entrata, Filevine, Pattern, and Taxbit.”
Some of Element’s other investments are listed below. Those marked with an ‘*’ are investments that took place in 2024:
