Salt Lake City, Utah, January 18, 2025
The Silicon Slopes community gathered at the Salt Palace Convention Center from Jan. 14-17, 2025, for the annual Slopes Serves charity event, in conjuction with Utah's biggest event event of the year, Silicon Slopes Summit. This year the initiative prepared a record-breaking 1.1 million meals for Utah Food Bank. Originally aiming for one million meals, the event exceeded expectations, thanks to the efforts of 30,700 volunteers, the highest turnout in the event’s history.
Members of the Young Men and Young Women general presidencies from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and their advisory councils joined the effort, emphasizing the role of youth in service. “The youth of today don’t want to talk about doing good; they want to get their hands dirty and actually be part of the solution,” one leader said.
Slopes Serves, a Utah-based nonprofit, organizes the event annually to combat food insecurity and foster community collaboration. Building on this year’s success, the organization plans to replicate the initiative in 2026, with hopes of an even greater impact.
This record-setting effort underscores the power of community action, with nearly 1.1 million meals representing vital support for families across Utah.
