On March 14, 2024, some 3,000 girls from over 150 schools across Utah will come together for the Women Tech Council’s SheTech Explorer Day—the premiere STEM event for girls in the state. SheTech Explorer Day inspires girls to study STEM subjects in school and later pursue myriad STEM-related careers. It energizes and prepares them to become a part of the state’s future technology workforce—an important engine of the state's thriving economy.
Over the last decade, SheTech has activated more than 30,000 girls to pursue STEM.
Now in its tenth year, SheTech Explorer Day this year will introduce Utah girls interested in STEM to over 1,000 mentors from technology companies from Utah's dynamic tech sector for a hand-on, day-long event filled with cutting edge technologies including robotics, aerospace, 3D printing, forensics, artificial intelligence, drone technology, chemistry, biomedicine, virtual reality, aviation, and more.
This year, presenters and mentors from companies such as Adobe, Ancestry, Bill, Dealertrack, Dell Technologies, Domo, Entrata, Nu Skin, Vivint, VM Ware, and others, will interact with the girls, share stories and insights, and provide tips and guidance.
Participating girls will also experience working with mentors to solve real-world problems using technology.
This year's event will take place at Mountain America Expo Center, 9575 State Street, in Sandy, Utah. It is a favorite event for Utah's Governor Spencer Cox to attend, share remarks, and interact with them among the various tech activities and company exhibits.
The event starts at 9:00 a.m. and wraps up by 1:15 p.m, and falls into two parts:
- From 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., the girls will interact with more than 50 technology experiments including robotics, aerospace, 3D printing, forensics, artificial intelligence, drone technology, chemistry, biomedicine, virtual reality, aviation, etc.
- The second half, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will reconvene the girls and mentors in the main hall for lunch. Here the girls will work on a problem-solving activity with mentors.
