The Utah Department of Commerce’s Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy, the Utah System of Higher Education, and the Utah Innovation Fund will host Utah's premiere Artificial Intelligence Summit, where innovation meets policy to shape the future of AI.

It will take place on October 30, 2024 at Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus, Karen Gail Miller Conference Center. The Summit starts at 8:00am and wraps up at 2:00pm. It includes a networking lunch at 1:00pm. Governor Spencer J. Cox, an ardent supporter of the event, will provide a keynote address at 9:45am.

The Summit will highlight Utah's government's commitment and vision to sensible, collaborative policy innovations with regards to AI. The Summit's focus will be on AI policy and carefully-considered regulation as they relate to the state's forward-thinking workforce, AI-infused tech companies, and educational institutions. 

It will feature a series of panel discussions focusing on critical sectors such as higher education, industry innovation, and policy and regulatory innovation. Notable speakers and moderators include Cydni Tetro from the Women’s Tech Council and Clint Betts of Silicon Slopes, among other esteemed experts such as Vic Hockett, David Wingate, Millicent Tracey, Caleb Hicks, and Nate Walkingshaw.

A special presentation on AI Policy and Regulatory Innovation will feature insights from Margaret Woolley Busse, Executive Director at the Utah Department of Commerce, Zach Boyd, Director of the Utah Office of AI Policy, Representative Jeff Moss, and Senator Kirk Cullimore, discussing regulatory frameworks and the future of AI in mental health and other sectors.

Attendees can participate in "Hackathon" sprint groups, which offer a unique platform for engaging in hands-on sessions focused on developing actionable policy solutions that ensure responsible innovation. Participants will collaborate with fellow visionaries in one of three critical areas: the future of the workforce, education, or healthcare. Each group aims to directly influence the policy and regulatory landscape shaping AI's future in these vital industries, making it an invaluable experience for those passionate about steering the direction of technological progress.
